“IT’S politically motivated.”
This was the reaction of Bacolod City Councilor Noli Villarosa, president of Liga ng mga Barangay, on the administrative and criminal charges filed against him before the Office of the Ombudsman in Western Visayas.
Also charged were Barangay Tangub Treasurer Ma. Theresa Domadiego and Marilou Magallanes, an employee of Barangay Tangub.
The complaint was filed by Jesusa Contorno, a former employee of Barangay Tangub, on January 29 this year.
On February 19, Ombudsman Acting Director Pio Dargantes required the complainant to submit her sworn complaint affidavit together with a certificate of non-forum shopping and other documents to support her allegations.
On April 17, the Office of the Ombudsman received the sworn complaint affidavit of Contorno.
Contorno, who was employed as Violence Against Women and Children desk officer, filed an abuse of authority, arbitrary termination, violation of Republic Act 3019 or Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act against Villarosa, Domadiego, and Magallanes.
Villarosa said yesterday that anybody can file a case against him and he is ready to face it because it’s only politically motivated.
“I have a lawyer and we will answer it in due time,” he said.
Contorno said on January 3, she submitted the fourth quarter accomplishment report in the compliance of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), as well as the Department of Social Services, issued a memorandum to Villarosa.
“After submitting my report, Villarosa went to the barangay secretary office and instructed the secretary to issue a memorandum of termination to me and have it signed by him immediately,” she added.
Contorno also claimed that Villarosa has ghost employees as his strategy in preparation for the May 2018 elections and he allowed his partner Magallanes to have business within the barangay premises using government building.
Contorno signed her appointment in Barangay Tangub on January 1, 2017.
Contorno disclosed that she only wants to get justice on her complaint and there’s no politics here. (MAP)
