Bacolod cops seize P94.4-M shabu in 2022

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has recovered a total of P94.4 million worth of suspected shabu in various drug bust operations in the city in 2022.

BCPO records showed that from January to December last year, 511 drug bust operations were conducted that led to the arrest of 594 drug personalities and confiscation of 13,890.44 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of P94,454,992.

Of the 594 drug personalities arrested, 38 of them were listed as high-value individuals while 538 others were identified as street-level individuals, six minors and 12 others were newly identified drug personalities in Bacolod.

All of them were already charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the police said.

For the same period, about 668 persons with pending arrest warrants were arrested, including 179 most wanted persons and 489 other wanted persons charged with various offenses.

In its campaign against loose firearms and the continuous information drive on the Philippine National Police's Oplan Katok Program, or annual verification of firearms, the police conducted a total of 167 operations that led to the arrest of 28 violators.

The police also seized a total of 241 small homemade firearms and explosives.

A total of 42 firearms and three others were also surrendered to BCPO.

In the campaign against illegal gambling, the local police conducted a total of 226 operations against violation of Presidential Decree (PD) 1602 and PD 449 that led to the arrest of 773 individuals.

The police also recovered a total of P122,029.25 bet money and 226 cases were filed in courts against the violators.

BCPO director Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, in a statement, commended the men and women of BCPO for the overwhelming accomplishments of the past year giving special commendations to the operating units and individuals.

Martir said the relentless effort through police-initiated operations once again proved successful in the fight to lessen criminality.

The BCPO director also vowed to give the Bacolodnons a better police service, especially in the coming elections.*
