Bacolod dad reminds SK to follow the law

Published on:

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia is reminding all the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons in the city to be conscious and follow the rules and regulations in implementing the programs within their barangay.

Leonardia, who attended the first Bacolod Youth Leader Convention at the Bacolod Government Center Sunday, August 5, said that even they are sincere but fail to follow the procedures, they are still wrong.

"Like in my situation, I always tell my people to do things legally. Because based on my personal experience in spite that I am not doing wrong, my political opponents filed cases against me, I followed the procedure and yet they filed cases. How much more, if I will do wrong, for sure cases, will be filed against me," Leonardia said.

He said the SK chairpersons should follow the law and they have to live with that.

Leonardia added he is hopeful that this batch of SK will be more assimilated and to see more activities with the barangay officials.

Councilor Ayesha Joy Villafor, SK Federation president, said they convened the 61 SK chairpersons in Bacolod to discuss the new SK Reform Law.

"We should understand this law because it's very important as a youth leader in the barangay," she said.

In May, Villaflor was elected as SK Federation president along with other elected officers Julia Marie Rile of Barangay 2, vice president; Fercy Lyn Almaiz of Barangay Mansilingan, secretary; Reymar Berja of Barangay Alijis, treasurer; Donna Michaela Perma of Barangay Singcang-Airport, auditor; Shaine Jezreel Solidum of Barangay Villamonte, public relation officer; Jericho Malagsic of Barangay Handumanan, and sergeant at arms.

Villaflor, a law student of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and magna cum laude of Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in University of St. La Salle, along with the other officers were all unopposed.
