Bacolod mayor orders probe on unauthorized solicitation

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia ordered the City Legal Office (CLO) to conduct an investigation against the suspect who was arrested by operatives of Police Station 8 for carrying unauthorized solicitation letter bearing the logo of the City Government.

The letter also mentioned the name of IPM-Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC) foreman.

Leonardia said CLO should conduct a thorough investigation to determine the motive of the suspect.

“We cannot allow that anybody will just use the name of the city government, especially for soliciting money,” he said.

Ever since they do not have a program or projects that they are soliciting money, he added.

The mayor pointed out that this will serve as warning and example to those who want to use the name of the City Government for an illegal activity.

Leonardia said the suspect, who is detained at the detention cell of Police Station 8, refused to reveal the person behind the modus operation.

“We are hopeful that they will cooperate and tell the truth,” he said.

Leonardia disclosed that there’s a possibility that anybody might want to sabotage or destroy the image of the current administration.
