Bacolod requests DOT-Western Visayas to conduct training for hospitality industry

THE City of Bacolod requested the Department of Tourism (DOT)in Western Visayas to conduct training for the city’s front liners in the hospitality industry, particularly in hotels and restaurants in preparation for the Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibitions Conference (Micecon) in August this year.

City Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the City Council committee on tourism, said yesterday, May 20, that aside from Micecon 2018, several national and international convention events are already scheduled in Bacolod.

She said the city’s hostels and restaurant should also prepare for these events.

She added the training will be conducted before the Micecon event here and on February 2019, Bacolod will also host the International Jazz Festival.

Last month, the Micecon organizing team inspected the venues and billeting areas in Bacolod along with the representatives from DOT-Western Visayas.

Ang said Micecon is the biggest gathering of the country’s influential professionals and practitioners involved in Mice.

She said at least 600 participants from the Mice industry are expected to attend such as the airlines, hotels, resorts, convention centers, event organizers and exhibit organizers.

Ang disclosed that they are now finalizing the venues for the Micecon event.
