The Bacolod City Permits and Licensing Division Office along with the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) will inspect the eateries operating near the schools that are allegedly serving liquor to minors, City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting, Jr., said Friday, August 4.

Ting said they received complaint against an eatery operating near the school for allegedly serving liquor to minors, which is illegal.

He said one of the parents reported that her child, a 14-year-old, was seen very drunk inside the eatery, whose name is being withheld.

“We will inspect them to ensure that they are not serving liquor to minors. We need to protect our children,” he added.

Ting noted that Bacolod City has an existing City Ordinance No. 450, Series of 2007 that prohibits and penalizes the sale of liquor, beer, or other intoxicants to a person or persons below the age of 18.

Ting said the ordinance prohibits the sale of intoxicating liquor in establishments located within 200 meters of schools.

He said the Permits and Licensing Division Office and the DSSD will be accompanied by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD).

“If they committed a violation, they will be penalized and may face the closure of their establishment,” he added*
