FOR the main highlight of the Chicken Inasal Festival on May 26 to 28, the City Government of Bacolod will attempt the longest chicken inasal grilling station at the Megaworld Upper East, an official of the city said Monday, May 22.

Councilor Celia Matea Flor, chairperson of the City Council committee on markets, said the three-day Chicken Inasal Festival will be held at The Upper East, Manokan Country, and North Capitol Road.

She said the opening of the festival will be held at the North Capitol Road on May 26 at about 5 p.m., adding that there will be a San Miguel Beer tasting pairing of chef’s chicken inasal version at 6 p.m.

On May 27, there will be a barangay inasal cook-off at the Manokan Country that will be participated by at least 10 barangays; an inasal rendition or live cooking demonstration at Ayala Malls Capitol Central; and the chicken inasal festival’s awards at the SM Atrium.

On May 28, the 320-meter chicken inasal grilling station will be set up at The Upper East at 6 p.m.

Flor said the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival is an annual event that celebrates the rich culinary heritage of the city.

She said it showcases the mouthwatering flavors of chicken inasal, a popular local dish, and highlights the vibrant culture and warm hospitality of the city.

She added the city government already allotted P1.5 million for the three-day event.

Flor noted that the city will provide at least 1,600 grilled chicken meals to the identified beneficiaries.

Flor said the free grilled chicken meals will be disturbed to non-government organizations such as the St. Vincent Home, Bacolod Boys Home, Bacolod Girls Home, Social Development Center, Senior Citizens, and others.

Moreover, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will also implement road closures on May 26 to 28.

Major Junji Liba, head of BTAO, said there will be a road closure along the Manokan Country, North Capitol Road, Lacson, Ferrero and Aguinaldo streets.

He said several traffic enforcers will be deployed in the three-day event of the festival.*
