BACOLOD Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) head Police Major Ruel Culanag was relieved from his post effective January 7, 2021.

Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Monday, January 10, that Culanag was reassigned to Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

Gabana said Culanag’s reassignment was approved and signed by Police Regional Office-Western Visayas director Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo.

BTAO is under the management of the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) and it is not yet known who will replace the post of Culanag, he added.

The BCPO spokesperson said it is part of their job to be reassigned to other units.

He added that they will only wait for the CMO to assign a new head at BTAO.

Meanwhile, Executive Assistant Celestino Guara, head of Public Order and Safety Office (Poso), said they will await the decision of Mayor Evelio Leonardia as to who will be the new head of BTAO.

For the meantime, he said BTAO will be managed by the Traffic Management Unit.
