Village officials undergo DILG orientation on transparency

BARANGAY captains, council members (kagawads), and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons of the 61 barangays of Bacolod are currently undergoing a three-day orientation on transparency, conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The activity is called “Barangay Newly Elected Officials (BNEO) Towards Grassroots Renewal and Empowerment for Accountable and Transparent Barangays Program Basic Orientation” and is being held in three batches at Resorts Negrense in Barangay Punta Taytay.

The first batch was held on August 28, 29, and 30 with officials from 20 barangays; the second batch on September. 4, 5, 6 with 21 barangays; and third batch on Sept. 11, 12, 13 with 20 barangays.

DILG-Bacolod director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag and Liga ng Mga Barangay spearhead the activity.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran addressed the participants of the first batch.

The DILG website said the activity is a term-based capacity development program designed to meet leadership challenges at the community and prepare the barangays and their officials in actively fulfilling their roles and relevance to development
