The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) launched the Bacolod Police Assistance Desk (BPAD) in 25 areas in Bacolod City on Wednesday, September 6.

Colonel Noel Aliño, director of BCPO, said the BPAD will be managed by two police officers.

"Instead of 20 personnel that will be deployed to conduct a roving patrol, we created the BPAD to be handled by two police officers for an immediate response," he said.

He added that it has been observed that most of the police officers who were deployed for roving patrol were seen inside malls or stores.

Aliño noted that the BPADs will be supervised by Captain John Ramos.

Aliño said as of Wednesday, September 6, they had already created 25 permanent BPADs, such as in schools, call centers, hospitals, and public markets.

He said the police personnel will stay in the area from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"It's a big help to address crime incidents like snatching, robbery, hold-up, vehicular accidents, among others," he added.

On Tuesday, September 5, a snatcher was arrested in the downtown area with the help of BPAD personnel.

"The police should be visible in streets and they should not stay inside their offices or inside the malls," Aliño said.*
