BCPO: No escapee in Police Station 8

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has clarified that no detainee has escaped from the custodial facility of Police Station 8.

Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, public information officer of BCPO, said in a press conference yesterday that a man, who was brought to the police station, was not a detainee.

On July 10, 36-year-old Reneboy Quimpo of Kabankalan City, fetched her partner at Barangay Singcang-Airport after she was fired from her work.

However, a heated argument ensued between him and her partner's female employer until the latter's brother butt in, which also resulted in a commotion.

Personnel of Police Station 8 responded to a call for assistance but when they arrived, they saw Quimpo's both hands were tied, and he has injuries.

He was brought to the police station, together with the employer and her brother for investigation.

Gabana said Quimpo alleged that the brother of his partner's employer hit him with an unknown firearm and he was also mobbed by some residents and bystanders in the area.

While the police were talking to the employer and her brother, as part of the investigation, Quimpo allegedly ran.

He was supposed to be brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital because of his serious injuries.

But police were not able to locate his whereabouts until yesterday.

Gabana said Quimpo is not considered a detainee of Police Station 8 because he did not commit any violation, adding that the station has no liability on the incident.

He also clarified that Quimpo has no pending case for rape in Kabankalan City, as alleged by his partner's employer. He was out on a bail for his theft case in Cauayan town.

The employer also alleged that Quimpo was caught in possession of a knife. However, Gabana said there was no bladed weapon that was recovered from him.

The knife was placed in a bag that was turned over by Quimpo's 20-year-old partner to the police, Gabana added.

Gabana said the employer and her brother is eyeing to file illegal possession of deadly weapon and grave threat against Quimpo but such have no legal grounds because they failed to establish their allegations.

The case was already referred to the barangay.

Gabana, meanwhile, said that Police Station 8 is willing to assist Quimpo if he pursues the filing of serious physical injuries against his partner's employer and brother. (GYM/SunStar Bacolod)
