REPRESENTATIVE Jose Francisco "Kiko" Benitez of the 3rd Legislative District of Negros Occidental recently turned over two units of dump trucks to officials of the Municipality of Murcia led by Mayor Victor Gerardo Rojas.
The acquisition of the two trucks, worth a total of P2.9 million, was facilitated by the office of Rep. Benitez from the financial assistance for the implementation of priority projects of the local government unit, through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) - Other Financial Assistance to LGUs, as provided under the General Appropriations Act of 2019.
“We are deeply grateful to Cong. Benitez for the acquisition of the two dump trucks, which we will use in the implementation of the Solid Waste Management and Environmental Sanitation Program of the municipality,” said Mayor Gerry Rojas.
“This is one project that looks after the interest and welfare of our constituents. The municipality has already acquired a landfill, and the acquisition of these two dump trucks is just in time. With the assistance of Cong. Benitez and with the full support of our municipal officials, we are on track in our quest to put Murcia on top,” he added.
Rojas further disclosed that the project was initiated by the municipality with a formal request, duly supported by the Sangguniang Bayan, which was forwarded to the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The office of Rep. Benitez expedited the release of the funds for the project, after which the municipality signed a memorandum of undertaking for the proper care and use of the dump trucks.
The turn-over ceremony, which was followed by the blessing of the two trucks officiated by Rev. Fr. Regner Dequiña, was held in front of the Murcia Municipal Hall, and witnessed by Vice-Mayor Johnny Reosura, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Punong Barangays, Department Heads and employees of the municipality.
