BACOLOD City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez urged the business owners in the city to double-check their business permits to determine if it is valid or not.
This was after the mayor received complaints that there were fake business permits issued to some business establishments in the city.
Benitez said the city is now conducting a preliminary investigation to determine if this incident happened with the consent of the individuals working in the city or an individual working as a fixer.
He said it has been observed that some of the business owners availed the services of the fixers, but they cannot guarantee if their business permit is valid or not.
"They were surprised when they find out that their business permits were not valid," he added.
The mayor noted that they already assisted the complainants to secure a legitimate business permit.
"The business owners can validate if their business permit is valid or not through its feature, the quick response (QR) code," Benitez said.
He said the business permit of the previous administration lacked security features so it's easy to be copied by unscrupulous individuals.
"So now, we are issuing a business permit with QR code so that when they scanned it, they can determine its authenticity," he added.*
