EVEN though the province of Negros Occidental has already opened its borders last Monday, March 15, Hinoba-an Mayor Ernesto Estrao said that its border control point located in between Barangay Sangke in the town and Barangay Bongalonan, Basay town in Negros Oriental remains in operation.

In a phone interview with members of the local media, Estrao said the border control point is still in compliance with the executive order signed by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson that introduced uniform travel protocols in the province.

Estrao said individuals originating from Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental can still enter the town, although they will be required to present a negative RT-PCR test, as well registration from the S-Pass System and StaySafe.PH app.

Although the border control point in the area remains, Estrao also revealed that the other border control point, which is located in Barangay Talacagay bordering Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, had already been removed.

Estrao said commuters coming from Sipalay City will no longer be checked.
