Bus hits 2 carabaos; 22 injured

TWENTY-TWO persons were injured after a mini bus hit two carabaos in Barangay Pacol, Bago City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday night, June 6.

Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, deputy chief for administration of Bago City Police Station, said bus driver Alan Sailo, 39, of Barangay Caridad, was on his way to Barangay Ma-ao around 7 p.m. when the vehicle swerved to the opposite lane after two carabaos crossed the road.

Sailo attempted to avoid the animals, but still hit them. The vehicle then fell to the sugarcane field.

Twenty of his passengers sustained minor injuries and bruises. Sailo also felt dizzy as well as his conductor.

They were all brought to a hospital but some of them were already discharged.

Trigue said the carabaos were already turned over to the owners, but later died.
