CADIZ City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. revealed on Thursday, July 4, that they are eyeing for a private-public partnership to develop its port facilities.
Escalante said he started the development of Cadiz port during his previous term as mayor and was continued by his brother his predecessor former mayor Patrick Escalante.
"There have been many investors who have expressed interests in developing the port," Escalante said.
He said this would be a big boost to the city's economy especially with major businesses already putting up their branches.
"We need to sustain the economy and developing the port is the way to do it," he said.
Escalante said he has appointed the former mayor as special assistant to the people.
"If they can't reach me because of I am busy, they can talk to Mayor Patrick and his yes means a yes from me too," he said.
Escalante's inauguration coincided with the city's 52nd charter day yesterday.
Also sworn in as new city officials were Vice Mayor Lilia Decolongon and 10 councilors.
Attending the event were Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, Rep. Rafael Cueva and former governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.
