AMID the alarming rate of local transmission of coronavirus in Negros Island, particularly in Bacolod City, the Cadiz City Government has temporarily suspended official travels outside the city until further notice.
In Memorandum SGE-049-2020 dated July 27 and addressed to department heads and employees, Mayor Salvador Escalante said that delivery of documents, department heads and employees "are required to utilize the Philippine Postal Service or any reputable private courier."
Escalante also advised that documents should also be sent via electronic mail.
"All employees are strictly prohibited from holding or attending meetings in any government or private offices outside Cadiz City substituting the same with online meeting platforms in conducting or attending these meetings," the mayor said.
However, the suspension does not apply to emergency services, transport of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) or Covid-19 related activities, the memorandum added.
Negros Occidental as of Saturday, July 25, had Covid-19 local transmissions in six cities and two towns.
Talisay City has eight, Manapla -- 5, Cadiz City -- 2, Bago City, Silay City, Sagay City, Isabela and Sipalay City -- one each.
As of July 28, Bacolod City has 151 Covid-19 cases, 58 recoveries, 89 active cases and four deaths.
Of the total number of cases, 52 percent are local cases.
Local transmission in the province was reported by Capitol at 20.
