Capitol investigates complaint on fake hiring for fees

NEGROS Occidental Acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said on Tuesday that they are investigating the reported modus of a certain individual claiming to have access at the Provincial Government and hires employees for fees.

She also warned the public especially those who would like to apply for a job in the provincial government against these individuals because they have no authority to hire and ask for fees.

Gelvolea said that two Negrenses went to the Capitol recently and verified if the employment they were promised were true.

"They were promised positions at the Community Affairs Office only to discover that it was a scam," Gelvolea said.

The victims were from the southern part of the province and one of them actually paid P25, 000 through a local remittance service.

The victims were convinced by the suspect because her face is familiar to them and that they have seen her at the Capitol.

Gelvolea said the suspects promised that their employment at the provincial government will be facilitated.

"We are going to verify the identity of the one who received the payment. It is possible that his name was just used by some unscrupulous persons," she said.

“If the victims will file a formal complaint then we will conduct a formal investigation,” Gelvolea said.

She pointed out that the provincial government never authorized somebody to collect fees from individuals applying at the Capitol.

“We are not tolerating such act and would like to inform the public that a systematic hiring process is observed at the Capitol through the Provincial Human Resource Management Office,” she said.

For those wanting to enter government service, they should apply to the head of the office of the local chief executive through the Human Resource Officer who will assess their documents and capabilities, she said.

"It is free except for the laboratory requirements," Gelvolea added.
