THE rates for several facilities and services among Provincial Government-run hospitals in Negros Occidental may increase soon, Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz II said Wednesday, August 3.
Diaz said the increase will be made to sustain the maintenance of the hospitals and of the equipment they recently procured.
The proposed increase in rates in the laboratory and x-ray fees, among others, will be presented to the Provincial Board for approval and public hearing.
"(But) we are cautious of the fact that although the fees are higher it should still be lowered than those in the private hospitals," he stressed.
Diaz said they hope to continue the operation of the Provincial Government-run hospitals to give quality services to the Negrenses because while they are income generating, their main purpose is for healthcare.
Meanwhile, 15 hospital chiefs in the province have already assumed their new posts effective August 1, 2022.
Diaz earlier explained that among the reasons why there was a need to reshuffle the heads in some of Capitol-run hospitals are poor performance, or others might have been overstaying.
He noted that some complaints came from patients and watchers and even local chief executives, particularly on poor performance due to too much familiarity.
The officials added that the positions of these hospital heads and nurses are not station specific as they are part of the hospital operation.
