City to probe caretaker after drug bust in cemetery

THE Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) is conducting an investigation against the caretaker of Burgos Public Cemetery, Ricardo Repogio, after two drug suspects were arrested in a drug bust operation inside the cemetery on Tuesday, June 12.

City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan said yesterday, June 13, that they will issue another memorandum to Repogio to explain the presence of drug personalities inside the cemetery.

“We will check the circumstance of time since he is the caretaker of the cemetery and it happened within his area of responsibility,” he said.

The CLO will also review the records of Repogio.

On Tuesday, June 12, two drug suspects were arrested in a drug bust operation conducted by operatives of Police Station 4.

Police identified the suspects as Jessie de Nicolas, 46, and Rante Rusiana, 45, both residents of Barangay Villamonte.

The police said they were informed that the drug suspects were using some of the mausoleum as a drug den.

In April, General Services Office (GSO) head Jerome Solinap also issued a stern warning to Repogio after he committed lapses on his job.

This, after he found out that several niches for burial purposes were constructed at the cemetery.

Solinap said they are trying to control the construction of new niches because the cemetery is already overcrowded.

In 2017, Solinap also received several complaints that the niches of their loved ones were missing. He also warned Repogio about the incident after his name was dragged on the complaint.
