Clean up of Bacolod Reclamation area urged

BACOLOD City Councilor Sonya Verdeflor urged the City Task Force Clean and Green under the office of the city mayor, Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) management, and the seven barangays to clean their premises at the Bacolod Reclamation area from there is dumped unrecycled garbage.

Verdeflor, who authored the resolution for the purpose, said the Task Force Clean and Green, Bredco and Barangays 2, 6, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15 should ensure the prevention of further illegal dumping of garbage in their areas of responsibility.

She said the Reclamation Area including areas under the territorial jurisdiction of Barangays 2, 10, 12 and 14 have now become regular dumping sites of unrecycled garbage from law violators.

“If it is left unattended, it could be a source of several types of diseases, other health-related problems and at the same time, it is eye-sores in the area, which is considered as a prime growth area in our city,” she added.

Verdeflor noted that this ongoing sanitation problem in Bacolod must be addressed and resolved at the earliest time possible.

“It must be stopped altogether, in order to redeem the recognition given to the City of Bacolod as a Clean and Green Hall of Fame Local Government Unit,” Verdeflor added.
