CLMMRH calls on public to be responsible drivers

DR. JULIUS Drilon, chief of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), said that vehicular accident is the fifth leading cause of death in the hospital in 2017.

In 2017, there were 725 admissions on vehicular-related accidents.

Majority of the admissions were male patients at 85 percent. Twenty-five of these admitted patients died, the majority of whom are male.

Discharges and mortality data for the first quarter of this year showed an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period last year.

In relation to this, due to the increasing volume of vehicles on the road especially this summer season, CLMMRH calls on the public to be extra careful in driving motor vehicles.

Drivers should consistently follow road and traffic rules, use seatbelt or helmet and avoid drinking too much alcohol, texting and answering phones calls while driving. This is to avoid accidents and untimely loss of lives. (PR)
