THE Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) has resumed the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) protocols for the healthcare workers.
Dr. Julius Drilon, CLMMRH medical chief, said the Covid-19 cases in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental has been on uptrend since April.
“We have been monitoring this since April, we have more cases including our healthcare workers,” he said.
He added that they resumed the mandatory swab for the healthcare workers.
“We are not happy about it and we activated our Covid-19 protocols again because we are having a positivity rate of at least four healthcare workers a day or with a total of 22 Covid-19 active cases,” Drilon said.
He said he believes that it’s a community transmission and they have already declared an intra-facility outbreak of Covid-19, which means that the protocols now for the infection control are in effect at the hospital.
“Let’s be careful because the XBB.1.16 ‘Arcturus’ subvariant of omicron has already been detected in Negros Occidental from one of our samples,” he added.
Moreover, Drilon said the hospital is still not accepting visitors for the patients to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.
“We are implementing selected watchers’ policy based on the medical condition of the patients,” he said.
He added that they are also preparing beds for the patients with comorbidities for the immediate admission.
Drilon noted that there’s a DOH order that allows them to apply a strategy to expand the number of beds for the patients.
“We assure the public that protocols are in place and we are ready to accommodate patients with Covid-19. We have death cases so we don’t take it lightly,” Drilon said.*
