Comelec: campaign period ends tonight

THE Commission on Election (Comelec) is reminding the candidates for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on Monday that the campaign period will end Saturday night.

Provincial elections supervisor Jessie Suarez also reminded the voters to cast their votes to the polling places early possible as the manual voting will start at 7 a.m. up to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 14.

The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) is asking the voters and candidates to make the election on Monday honest and credible.

Dorie Cabilso, diocesan coordinator of PPCRV, said that they will deploy volunteers through roving teams and will set up assistance desks in polling centers to guide the voters for an orderly election.

However, she said they still lack volunteers because of shorter time to prepare for a short election period.

Unlike in the previous election which was automated, this time the PPCRV needs more volunteers to assist and guide the voters, she said.

She said that everybody is aware that this election is very crucial in preparation for the 2019 midterm elections.

Bacolod City election registrar Mavil Majarucon-Sia said that the election board has been busy preparing for delivering to the polling places the election paraphernalia and ballot boxes that will be used on Monday.
