Comelec delists 1,242 voters in Bacolod

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City has delisted 1,242 names from its voters' list in the city.

City Election Registrar Mavil Majarucon-Sia said they already finished the Election Registration Board (ERB) hearing last week, as well as the cleansing of its database.

Of the 1,242, 963 names have been removed by reason of death; 74 due to transfer to another district or municipality; and 204 due to double registration, which was determined through automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS); and one double entry.

In Section 29 of the Voter's Registration Act, it stated that the names of voters who have died as certified by the local civil registrar will also have to be deleted from the voters' list.

Majarucon-Sia said this year, Bacolod has a total of 313,308 registered voters for the 2019 elections, which increased by 15,725 compared to the previous polls with 297,583 registered voters.

Meanwhile, Majarucon-Sia said they are still waiting for the official lists of candidates in Bacolod City for the 2019 elections.

She said the Comelec was supposed to release the list on November 9 but was moved to November 19.

"For Bacolod, we did not receive disqualification complaint against the candidates," she added.
