THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices will be open despite that it's a holiday today to accommodate candidates in the May 14 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections who would be submitting their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (Soce).
"The deadline will be on June 13, Wednesday, so we will be open today to accommodate the candidates," Suarez said.
He emphasized that the deadline for the submission of Soce has no extension.
All candidates, winners, and losers will have to submit their Soce, he also emphasized.
The Soce forms are available at the poll offices or it can be downloaded in the official website of the Comelec.
Suarez said that the candidates were allowed to spend only P5 per voter and overspending is ground for disqualification.
Comelec has been warning that failure to submit Soce would put elected officials at risk of being perpetually disqualified to hold public office.
According to the law, failure to file Soce prohibits winning candidates from entering upon the duties of their office until they have complied.
This will also subject the offender to perpetual disqualification to hold public office.
