Cops should not expect anything in return of service - Napolcom

NEVER expect anything in return of your service.

This was the reminder yesterday of National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Regional Director Atty. Joseph Celis who arrived in the province for inspection of the police stations.

Celis made the reaction relative to the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte that it’s not bad for the PNP members to receive gifts for as long it is not in form of a bribery.

"If it's given in modesty as a way of thanking for the services rendered in previous days or months then there is nothing wrong about it. But never during the incumbency of the services rendered by the police," Celis said.

He emphasized that PNP personnel has enough salaries plus bonuses especially that Christmas is fast approaching.

He said that the president being a lawyer and prosecutor knows what he is saying. "It also depends on how you appreciate his statement," Celis added.

Meanwhile during the entrance Napolcom briefing at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial office yesterday six Most Compliant City and Municipal Police Stations in the province were recognized.

For City Police Stations, San Carlos CPS ranked first, followed by Sipalay City Police Station and Victorias City Police Station. For Municipal Police Stations, E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station was hailed first, followed by Pulupandan Municipal Police Station and Valladolid Municipal Police Station. The recognition is held annually to boost the morale of the police stations and to encourage them to continue their hard work.

Chiefs of Police from all cities and municipalities were also present during the briefing to receive their respective awards.

Provincial Police Director Col.Romeo Baleros who welcomed the Inspecting Team reminded the personnel that in following the marching orders of higher headquarters, they should conduct themselves appropriately and in accordance with the law.

In his message, Celis also stressed that the PNP, especially those who are new to the organization, should observe the customs and traditions of the PNP which includes respect for authority and those higher in ranks.

The entrance briefing marks the Annual Inspection of the police stations in the province which includes management audit and monitoring of the NOCPPO police activities in the province.
