THE decomposing body of a man was found beside the road at Barangay Recreo, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, May 10.
Major Romulo Gepilango, commander of Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said the body of an unidentified man was discovered by a concerned citizen at about 7 a.m.
He said the body was found beside a sack, and it’s already in an advanced state of decomposition, so they cannot yet determine the cause of death.
He added that the victim, who is in his early 40s, was wearing only shorts. His body was brought to a funeral parlor in Pontevedra.
Gepilango noted that based on the statements of some of the residents in the area, the victim was allegedly a mentally-ill person from the town of San Enrique.
He said they are now coordinating with the San Enrique Police Station to verify the information.
He said that as of Wednesday, there was no report of a missing person within his area of jurisdiction.*
