DepEd-San Carlos gets various equipment

THE local government of San Carlos City turned over 90 units of 55-inch LED televisions, one unit Copylandia Comcolor Copier and Sorter and one unit identification card maker worth P4,876,820 to the Department of Education (DepEd) San Carlos City on October 1 at the DepEd Superintendent’s Hall.

Anthony Liobet, CESO VI, Schools Division superintendent, gratefully received the said equipment. He said the machines will be used for the reproduction of modules and the TVs, paired with the upcoming portable media library, will be used to air different learning episodes for the students.

Liobet said teachers also received P500 as load allowance to be used in contacting the parents of students regarding school announcements and inquiries.

He said the city has also provided a budget of P4.6 million for the purchase of bond papers and printers--three printers for each school.

Liobet said DepEd is planning to launch its own radio and TV studio, which will be situated at Congressman Vicente Gustilo Sr. Memorial School.

The radio broadcast system is part of DepEd’s blending learning approach in widening the access of education to students despite the pandemic.

Liobet added there are selected teachers who will do the live teaching. He aims to make the broadcasting system operational before the year ends. The said studio with the equipment needed will be funded by the local government.

Currently, a total of P27 million has been allocated to DepEd from the Special Education Fund (SEF) for Information and Communication Technology, office and other property equipment as support to basic education--learning continuity plan for the different learning delivery modalities to be implemented in every school.

The SEF is sourced from real property taxes collected by the local government.

Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Lorna Hinolan was also present during the event along with the principals and teachers of the different schools in the city. (PR)
