DILG awaits confirmation for assumption of new League prexy

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Bacolod City is still waiting for the confirmation from the National Executive Board of the Barangay League in Manila before newly elected League president Lady Gles Gonzales of Barangay Taculing can assume her post.

May Theresa Malongayon, officer-in-charge of DILG-Bacolod, said Monday, August 6, it is a prerequisite that the elected Barangay League president should have the confirmation from the National Executive Board of the Barangay League before joining the regular session of the City Council.

She said that based on Civil Service Commission Rules, the Barangay League national has 15 days to act for the confirmation of the elected Barangay League president.

She added that Gonzales cannot join the regular session on Wednesday as long as she does not have the confirmation from the national Barangay League.

On July 30, running unopposed, Gonzales was elected president of the Barangay League.

Other elected Barangay League officers were Franklin Andre Familiaran of Barangay 13 and Jose Maria Leandro Norberto De Leon.

Board of Directors were Rosinie Distrito of Barangay Singcang-Airport; Rodney Carmona of Barangay Sum-ag; John Mark Petierre of Barangay 30; Degie Tanista of Barangay Alangilan; Anthony Jose Loth Alfredo Ayco of Barangay 15; Rodolfo Pico of Barangay Mansilingan; Ricky Mijares of Barangay Banago; and Romel Flores of Barangay Villamonte.

All the candidates were unopposed and supporters of Grupo Progreso led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Gonzales had earlier said she aims to unite all the barangay officials and to oblige them to participate in the National Government programs like the solid waste management, among others.
