DILG reminds village chiefs to deliver Soba this October

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Bacolod City reminded the village chiefs to deliver their State of Barangay Address (Soba) within October in compliance with the Local Government Code of 1991.

Of the 61 barangays, only 40 barangays had delivered their Soba for the second semester of 2018, said Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag, director of DILG-Bacolod.

She said Local Government Code of 1991 stated that all barangay officials should conduct an assembly at least twice a year.

Madayag added they have a directive to hold it every first semester of the year, which is in March.

Madayag noted that those who fail to conduct a barangay assembly can be charged administratively for dereliction of duty.

“They still have until October 31 or else they can be charged administratively that can be filed to the Office of Ombudsman or the Bacolod City Council,” she said.

If the barangay officials are not available, Madayag said they will be given an extension until next month to deliver their Soba.

Madayag disclosed that Local Government Code of 1991 enjoins every barangay to deliver the Soba which includes their revenues and expenses. (MAP)
