THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for barangay affairs Martin Diño said on Wednesday, September 5, they will require a lifestyle check for village officials whose budget for their respective barangays are pegged at more than P 20 million.
The DILG will also get all the records of the barangays to determine who will be charged before the Office of the Ombudsman for ghost projects, ghost deliveries, and ghost employees.
"The DILG will go after corrupt barangay officials," he warned.
He also said barangay chairmen who failed to submit to establish their Barangay Drug Abuse Council (Badac) and submit their programs and activities related to the campaign against illegal drugs will also face charges for dereliction of duty.
Diño was in Bacolod City on Wednesday for the barangay newly-elected officers towards Grassroots Renewal and Empowerment for Accountability and Transparency training at Resorts Negrense which was attended by barangay officials in the city.
The seminar he said is being conducted by the DILG throughout the country.
