Doctor guest of honor at 82nd Charter Day of Bacolod City

A MEDICAL doctor specializing in infectious diseases will be the guest of honor and speaker at the 82nd Charter Day of Bacolod City Thursday, June 18.

Dr. Dolores Rommela Tiples-Ruiz is a fellow of both the Philippine College of Physicians and the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.

She served as a consultant on Infectious Diseases at Al Moosa Specialist Hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 2015 to 2018; and as an infectious diseases specialist at Bokamoso Private Hospital from 2009 to 2012, and at Princess Marina Hospital from 2012 to 2015, both in Gaborone, Botswana.

At the same time in 2012 to 2015, she became deputy head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Princess Marina Hospital.

She also currently serves as consultant on infectious diseases at The Doctors' Hospital, Adventist Medical Center-Bacolod, Riverside Medical Center, South Bacolod General Hospital, and Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital.

Dr. Ruiz is a consultant on infection control in Bacolod and Silay Cities, and president of Pula Negros-HIV Advocacy Group of the Philippine College of Physicians and the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.

The Charter Day ceremonies will be held at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby, which will start with a mass at 1:30 p.m. while the program proper will start at 3 p.m.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia will give his Charter Day message, while Representative Greg Gasataya will deliver an inspirational message.

Leonardia will also honor outstanding individuals who are this year's Mayor's Special Citation awardees.

This is now the second year that the City is celebrating its Charter Day on June 18, after it had celebrated the occasion every October 19 in the past 80 years. (PR)
