THE Department of Health (DOH) will construct a multi-purpose building near the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City for individuals who have patients at the hospital.

Congressman Greg Gasataya said Monday, December 19, 2022, that the multi-purpose building will be utilized by individuals or watchers of the hospital patients.

“This project will be implemented in coordination with CLMMRH Medical Center chief Dr. Julius Drilon to accommodate the watchers of the hospital patients,” he said.

He added that this project will address the problem of the watchers who are lining up outside the hospital.

The lawmaker stressed that the facility is open to everybody and it’s free.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, the management of CLMMRH disallowed the caregivers and watchers of the patients inside the hospital.

Most of them stayed and slept outside the hospital grounds while waiting for the medical updates of their patients.

“It’s a permanent structure and it’s a big help to our constituents who have patients at the hospital,” Gasataya said.

He said the national government already allotted P8 million for the implementation of the said project which will start in the first quarter of 2023.

In August 2022, the city government of Bacolod also established a free temporary shelter for hospital patients.

The temporary shelter was constructed at Barangay 18 and can accommodate about 30 watchers.
