DRRMO to train CCTV operators

THE Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) will conduct training for the operators of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the old city hall building Wednesday, August 29.

Dondon Parandas, officer-in-charge of DRRMO, said on Tuesday, August 28, the two-day training will be attended by 25 members of DDRMO information and technology (IT) team in the command center at the old City Hall.

He said the IT team will be trained by the CCTV’s supplier Neo-Tech Asia Distribution Inc. for the proper usage and familiarization of the CCTV as well as the monitoring of the big screens installed inside the command center.

The City Government and its CCTV supplier had earlier installed 39 high-definition CCTV cameras in various areas in the city.

The CCTV cameras were installed in all entry and exit points of Bacolod such as the flyovers in Barangay Bata and Araneta-Magsaysay as well as the areas of Barangays Sum-ag, Alijis and Circumferential Road, and others.

Parandas said the CCTV cameras are now operational and the IT team was tasked to monitor the big screens.

“It’s a big help not only for disaster monitoring but also in crime and traffic accidents,” he said.

Parandas disclosed that the newly-installed CCTV cameras can capture a clear plate number of the vehicles or identify the perpetrators in accidents or criminal activities. (MAP)
