Drug addicts told, ‘time to change your ways’

SPECIAL Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go appealed to drug addicts to change their ways and better seek professional help in government-run drug rehabilitation centers in the country.

He said that burial expenses are costly than the drug rehabilitation.

He stressed there is no let-up in the anti-illegal drug campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“The use of an illegal substance is truly harmful to the human brain. It is like one of your feet is already buried in a grave because this will surely destroy the future and even the family of drug dependents,” he said, as he told them to “better change your ways.”

Go was in Bacolod City on Sunday, September 9, for the inauguration of the Malasakit Center.

He also said there is a P20 million-fund intended for the upgrade of the Bacolod-Silay airport and the P667 million approved by the Regional Development Council in relation to the tourism-related projects.

“The President equally distributes project funds to all LGUs [local government units] in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao,” he said.

As to the possible visit of Duterte during the MassKara Festival this October, Go said it will all depend on the availability of his schedule.

“He visited the festival twice since he assumed the presidency. But I cannot yet answer whether he will come or not,” he said.
