THE random drug test conducted on 40 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and 17 jail officers of Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ)–female dormitory at Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City on November 12 yielded negative.
The participants submitted their urine samples for the test after the conduct of the greyhound operation in 10 dormitories at 8 a.m.
The greyhound operation was initiated by Senior Inspector Aubrey Gutierrez, jail warden, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), aiming to ensure that no contraband will enter the facility, particularly illegal drugs.
Jail personnel seized nuisance items such as pens, clothes, hangers, and lighters during the operation.
She said: “I am happy with the result but this is already anticipated since we are properly and religiously implementing the strict guidelines and protocols as mandated by the higher offices."
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) continues to intensify its campaign against possible entry of illegal drugs in all jails nationwide.
