EMB leads climate change month-long program

THE Environment Management Bureau (EMB)-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) started its various program on environmental awareness for the month of November.

In a release by EMB-CAR, aside from the national clean air month, the agency will also lead the climate change consciousness week and environmental education and awareness month.

A webinar on November 19 will focus on the national climate change consciousness week, which will consist of a climate change storytelling for teachers in the different provinces of the region.

Among the environmental awareness topics are lead poisoning and clean air.

The webinar aims to educate and give grade school students better understanding on climate change.

Speakers from the national and international climate change organizations will be part of the webinars.

Among them is Beatriz Tulagan, the regional organizer specialist of 350.org, an organization working to build a future for a just, prosperous, equitable and safety from the effects of climate crisis, aside from other women leaders coming from Green Peace Philippines and others.

On the clean air month, a webinar on the carbon foot print is scheduled on November 10, including a governing board meeting for members of the Water Air Quality Management Area (WAQMA) and the Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba and Tublay (Blistt) air-shed governing board.

A tree planting and the establishment of an eco-park will also be held at the Bued River, identified as a WAQMA.

A bike ride and flagging in Baguio City and La Trinidad will also be scheduled wherein participants will also pick up trash along the route.

Another webinar on environmental education and awareness celebration will be conducted for youth leaders and groups in the region with the objective of collating ideas and coordinate further with youth groups on environmental initiatives for 2021.
