Evaluation of qualified bidders set

THE post-qualification evaluation of the lowest calculated bids for the development of Progreso Village Relocation Site and construction of roads and bridges of the city’s flagship projects is set next week.

City Assessor Maphilindo Polvora, chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), said on Thursday, February 28, more than five contractors joined the bidding for the implementation of the two of its four priority projects to be funded by the P1.7 billion loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines.

The other two flagship projects were Bacolod City College site development and facilities worth P350 million and development of Bacolod MassKara Coliseum, P800 million.

The development of Progreso Village Relocation Site is worth P350 million while the construction of roads and bridges is P200 million.

BAC received more than five bid documents for the road and bridge project at Magsungay Pequin River, which includes drainage, bank protection, and flood control, in Barangay Vista Alegre with an Approved Budget for the Contract (ABC) of P14,999,996.86.

Also the rehabilitation of Mansilingan-Felisa Road with an ABC of P61,999,976.75; rehabilitation or widening of Sulum Bridge at CL Montelibano Drive, Barangay Villamonte, P7,056,168.65; widening or rehabilitation of Lacson Street, which includes bridge replacement, drainage, and flood control mitigation, P7 million.

“Each project, there were about three to four bidders who submitted their bid documents and we will choose the lowest, calculated, and responsive bidder,” Polvora said.

He said it’s mandated by law to conduct a post qualification and whatever will be the decision of the Technical Working Group (TWG), the BAC will recommend the winning bidders.

“So far, we do not have a finding yet of the winning contractors because we will conduct the post qualification,” he added.

Polvora noted that the TWG will validate the original documents of the bidders as well as their track record and equipment.

BAC will also hold a bidding on Friday, March 1, for the Bacolod City College site development and facilities.

There’s no schedule yet on the bidding for the development of Bacolod MassKara Coliseum.
