ACCREDITED Farm Tourism Destination Operators from 42 farm tourism resort and camp facilities owners in Western Visayas were convened March 4, Wednesday at Day’s Hotel, Iloilo City by the Department of Tourism Regional 6 to organize a regional association of farm tourism destinations in Panay-Guimaras and Negros Occidental.
Farm Tourism is the newest thrust of the Department of Tourism, designed to encourage both local and foreign tourists to discover the beauty and candor of the Philippine countryside. Among the participating accredited farm tourism destinations are Buro Buro Springs Organic Farm, Guerrero Garden Farm and Shalom Orchard Grove of Talisay City in Negros Occidental, Ephrata Farms, and the Goat and Sheep farm destinations of Iloilo.
Elected president is Eduardo Cañuto, founder of Ephrata Farms, while known organic farming advocate Pamela Henares was chosen as Vice President. Secretary is retired PhilHealth regional manager Ms. MArilyn Geduspan. Treasurer is Dolce Blas, auditor is Jose Cruz and Violeta Lopez Gonzaga was elected as public information officer. (PR)
