A WANTED person by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States for allegedly molesting two girls in Los Angeles, California, was indeed a resident of the city, the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office confirmed Wednesday, March 8.

NOCPPO spokesperson Capt. Judesses Catalogo said operatives from the Bago City Police Station visited the last known location of the suspect, identified as Edgardo Feralin Dormido Jr., 48 years old, but he is already nowhere to be seen.

The suspect's mugshot has also been searched by the police's facial recognition system, but it came out negative of any records with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Catalogo added.

He said the Bago police would have invited Dormido to their station for questioning if he was present, although he pointed out that Dormido also has the power to decline the invitation since they do not have any warrant of arrest against him.

According to a report released by the Los Angeles Times, Dormido was charged with five counts in relation to child molestation at the Los Angeles County Supreme Court in October 2015.

He allegedly molested two nine-year-old girls, touching them inappropriately on numerous occasions for more than a year, according to prosecutors.

Dormido was also slapped with an additional charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution by the L.A. Superior Court after he fled the country and went to the Philippines via Taiwan.*
