FORMER Bacolod Bishop and Bishop Emeritus Prelate of Batanes Most Reverend Camilo Gregorio has passed away at around 9:10 pm yesterday at Cardinal Santos Hospital in San Juan, Metro Manila.
This was confirmed by Reverend Fr. Brigido Casas.
Gregorio was hospitalized a few days ago and has been undergoing hemodialysis.
While undergoing dialysis, he died.
He was peaceful with the fact that he was dying and thanked everyone who has been supportive and caring of him.
Bishop Gregorio ordained Casas 15 years ago.
"I considered him as a father and a family friend. I am planning to fly to Manila soon to express my sincere sentiments of gratitude to him. His death was terribly sad being the Clergy of the Prelature of Batanes, Archdiocese of Cebu and Diocese of Bacolod.
His wake will be held at the Dominican Shrine of the Holy Rosary for a few days since he was also a member of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Dominic (Third Order of Preachers).
He will then be flown to Batanes where he will be buried.
Gregorio was appointed Bishop of Bacolod on May 20, 1987, and served the Diocese from 1989 to 2000.
