Gay couple bag gold medal in France dancesport competition

BACOLODNON Leonil Enopia and his dance partner Exequiel Vargas bagged the gold medal and silver medal, respectively in the recent Gay Games 10 and International Federation of Same-Sex Dance Association World Championships held in Paris, France on August 9.

This was disclosed by his former dance instructress Ching Alcala of Ching Dance Fitness Studio located in Bacolod City.

They won the gold medal in the world show dance competition and silver medal in dancesport men’s division.

The 42 couples who competed were mostly from the US and Europe.

Enopia said, “My message to the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) community in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental is for us to show our true color to the world and never stop dreaming. We also want to fully enjoy equality and freedom in our community.”

Michael Marquez Jr., who is also a Bacolodnon and his dance partner Gabriel Cerezo, placed fourth in the competition. (CNC/SunStar Bacolod)
