THE coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has placed motherhood in an unparalleled circumstance, said Governor Eugenio Lacson, as he greeted all mothers on their special day Sunday, May 10, 2020.
Motherhood most conceivably is the most daunting and most rewarding task there is, Lacson said.
"Challenging as it is, Covid-19 has placed motherhood in an unparalleled circumstance. Working mothers suddenly found themselves staying at home, managing work and family in a micro environment. Full-time mothers now have their hands full more than ever because everyone is at home. Conversely, mothers who are frontliners have to contend with lesser time for their families. All these, are just additions to the already overwhelming roles of mothers. Mothers are now amid an unprecedented situation," he said.
"Thus, today, I acknowledge the silent and constant heroism of all mothers -- not just the biological ones, but also those who voluntarily took upon themselves the challenging role of motherhood," the governor added.
"For us in the government, you, mothers, are among our primary partners in making the rules and protocols with regard to this pandemic effective," he said.
"As the father of the province, I pray that you will be given the fortitude to continue even when you are drained and weary and that you be given the right balance of tenderness, strength and wisdom to raise and keep your family together in this time of adversity," he added.
"Happy Mother's Day. God bless you and may the help of the Blessed Mother be upon you," Lacson said.
