Guv urges vigilance on STL operations

GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson urges everyone especially authorities to be vigilant against illegal use of Small Town Lottery (STL).

Lacson said he was a pioneer to have allowed STL operation when he was the mayor of San Carlos City.

"It's legal and it contributes to the local government units. The problem is it is allegedly being used for illegal means," Lacson cautioned.

Lacson also revealed that the provincial government has been receiving P1 million share from STL operation which is being used for medical purposes. "We are exploring if it could be used for educational purposes," Lacson said.

Lacson said that he heard that some operators of STL in other provinces have not yet resumed its operation because the national government requires huge amount of deposits.

The government through the PCSO are giving back to the people through its charity programs which Lacson said is a great help for the Filipino people.

Meanwhile Board Member Andrew Montelibano of the third district said he will summon the operator of the STL in the province after the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) allowed the resumption of the STL operations.

Montelibano who chairs the Committee on Games and Amusements said that he wants to find out the entire operation of STL in the whole province.

Invited to appear before the SP is Super Lucky Beaglers, Incorporated President Jexter Mercado.

Montelibano said he wants to find out what are Implementing Rules and Regulations set by the PCSO on STL.

Montelibano also wants to know if the STL operator in the province is following the PCSO's rules and regulations, and if they are remitting their share of the earnings to the local government units properly.

STL operations across the country were halted last month by President Rodrigo Duterte following allegations of corruption within the PCSO.
