Himamaylan mayor: PhilHealth is basic health card

HIMAMAYLAN City Mayor Agustin Ernesto Bascon on Wednesday, September 5, clarified that the video showing a person from the Local Government, who was perceived to be doing a campaign against the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP), was only doing an orientation on Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth).

The mayor said he was actually explaining to the attendees that the PhilHealth card is the basic health card that is widely required both in public and private hospitals.

He was just making a comparison about PhilHealth and the NOCHP because a lot of people in Himamaylan are confused as to what card to use when a member of the family get hospitalized, the mayor explained.

"Using Philhealth card will make the process easier. Himamaylan has just received their NOCHP cards and people here are already used to using their PhilHealth card," he said.

He clarified that the person who did the orientation before the daycare workers was simply doing a comparison.

The mayor stressed the person had no ill-intention against NOCHP.
