Hotel transfer of 26 repatriates gets underway

GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson is looking forward to the transfer of 26 repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to a hotel this weekend.

Lacson said the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has already reached out to the province and he was also informed that the OWWA representative here in Negros Occidental has already signed a memorandum of agreement with the hotel of their choice.

“I already instructed them that as soon as possible I would like to transfer the OFWs to the hotel where OWWA signed a contract with,” Lacson said.

Lacson added that of the 27 repatriates, 26 will be transferred to the hotel while the other one has to remain at the healing center in E.B. Magalona for quarantine after he tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the rapid antibody test conducted by the Provincial Health Office.

The transfer has been asked by Lacson to OWWA after they got negative comments from netizens in social media. (TDE)
