IATF officials to arrive in Bacolod September 9

TOP officials of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases will arrive in Bacolod City Wednesday, September 9.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia bared this Tuesday, September 8, after President Rodrigo Duterte approved the recommendation of the IATF to place Bacolod under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

The IATF, through Resolution 69-A, approved the recommendation to place Bacolod City and Lanao del Sur under MECQ from September 8 to 30.

Leonardia said they will hold a meeting with the IATF and city officials since Bacolod was already placed under MECQ.

"The resolution was already issued by the NIATF and the only thing to do now is to implement it because that is the mandate of the NIATF that all local government units in the country should stick instructions from them," he said.

He added the purpose of the MECQ is for the good of everybody and they expect that there will be inconvenience and there will be adjustment to be implemented.

"This is our trade off to reach our desire to contain or prevent the spread of Covid-19," Leonardia said.

The mayor also expressed his gratitude to Duterte and Senator Bong Go for sending to Bacolod the Cabinet officials, who also helped the Covid-19 crisis in Cebu.

"With caution and optimism, let us face this problems squarely. We hope that with the help of these people with their expertise, experience and their wisdom we can all together benefit from this, so let's cooperate and follow the regulations that can help us to fight against Covid-19," Leonardia said.

He said the inconvenience and adjustments will be only temporary, stressing that the important thing is to contain the Covid-19 in the city.
