Inmate charged for drugs escapes at hospital

A PERSON deprived of liberty (PDL) from Metro Bacolod District Jail-Special Intensive Care Area (MBDJ-Sica) escaped at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City Thursday morning.

Inspector Lorelie Dimaculangan, deputy jail warden, identified the suspect as 40-year-old Elvis Pescadilla. He was transferred to MBDJ-Sica in 2016 for charges of sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

Dimaculangan said Pescadilla was admitted at the hospital on Wednesday after he felt weak when he refused to eat for three days. He also suffered stomachache.

He was being guarded by a jail officer at the hospital, but when the latter went to the comfort room, the inmate managed to escape through the emergency exit door. He was wearing a yellow shirt and was handcuffed.

Dimaculangan said a manhunt operation is ongoing to capture the escapee.
