Jejor Corp. passes first stage of MassKara bid

THE Bids and Awards Committee (Bac) in Bacolod City was satisfied with the concept and design presentation of Jejor’s Construction Corp. on Wednesday, March 27, for the construction of the proposed P800 million Bacolod MassKara Coliseum.

City Assessor Maphilindo Polvora, chairman of Bac, said the Design and Build Committee already submitted its recommendation that Jejor’s Construction Corp. had passed the concept and design of the project.

He said that of the four prospective bidders, only Jejor’s Construction Corp. dropped its bid documents at the Bac office on Tuesday. One withdrew its bid while two others failed to drop their documents.

“They (Jejor’s Construction) passed on the conceptual design so we will proceed with the next stage, which is the opening of the financial documents,” Polvora said.

Once the company passes the financial stage of the bid, Polvora said the Technical Working Group will then proceed with the post-qualification.

The proposed Bacolod MassKara Coliseum is one of the priority projects of the City Government that will be funded by the P1.7 billion loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines.

Other priority projects are the development of Progreso Village Relocation Site worth P350 million; Bacolod City College site development and facilities, P350 million; and the construction of roads and bridges, P200 million.

Polvora said the winning bidders of these projects have already received the notice to proceed, but they need also to secure other documents to start the projects.

Engineer Peter Angelo Mariano, representative of Jejor’s Construction based in Cagayan de Oro, said that while the company presented the conceptual design of the coliseum, it’s not yet final because the project is design and build.

He said Jejor will construct the coliseum to be used for various events such as concert, convention and sports. It can accommodate about 10,000 persons.

He added that Jejor will also construct restaurants within the perimeter of the coliseum.

The proposed Bacolod MassKara Coliseum will be constructed in Barangay Alijis within the 8.8 hectare land that was donated by the Yanson family to the city to be used for a terminal, museum and coliseum of the city. (MAP)
